On September 9, Dr. Peggy Wright, Hall of Fame Alumna, was honored by the SFA Alumni Association with its most prestigious award for individuals who have made outstanding contributions to their professions and the community, and who advance the goals and values of SFA.

Peggy is a 1944 graduate of SFA, which began the long history of love and support
for SFA. Her dedication and contributions to SFA are extensive and her work on behalf
of SFA includes:

  • SFA Alumni Association Board of Directors, President, 1974-75
  • SFA Board of Regents, 1973-83 and 1987-93 serving as Chairman of the Board for 4 years
  • SFASU Foundation Board of Trustees, Treasurer since 1992 and Chairman from 1985-87
  • Distinguished Alumna, 1985
  • Nacogdoches Woman of the Year, 1989
  • 2nd Recipient of an Honorary University Doctorate, 1997

Peggy and her beloved husband, Tom Wright, gave generously to the University including the creation of the Wedgeworth-Wright Endowment for the Arts. The music building on campus was named the Tom and Peggy Wright Music Building in 1999 in honor of their many years of love and support for SFA.
